PORTLAND, OR, August 21, 2017 — The Business Diversity Institute (BDI) will host its annual Minority Enterprise Development Week conference (MED Week), in Portland, Oregon on September 25 and 26th. This year’s conference, themed “Empowering Inclusion for Community and Regional Change”, will offer the opportunity for small businesses and diversity practitioners to engage in two days of building relationships, learning and celebration!
The two days of events will kick off with workshops featuring business leaders in our community in MED Talks, inspirational accounts of lessons learned from business owners, and Business Development Live, a simulated enactment demonstrating skills and tips for relationship building with primes and potential customers. After workshops wrap up, the celebration begins with the networking reception. Day two incudes a Diversity Practitioners Summit, featuring a presentation from the Governor’s Office highlighting activities to implement Executive Order 10-03 on Promoting Diversity and Inclusion Opportunities for Minority-Owned, Women-Owned, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned and Emerging Small Businesses. MED Week 2018 will culminate with a celebration and awards luncheon on September 26th, including the keynote address from Oregon State Senator Lew Frederick. The event will be held at the Hilton Portland Downtown.
MED Week 2018, “Empowering Inclusion for Community and Regional Change” workshops include:
- MED Talks – Business owners share their stories to inspire others
- Business Development Live – Watch a simulated business development interaction to learn how to grow your business
- Diversity Practitioners Summit – Oregon’s efforts to increase opportunities for COBID-certified firms
“BDI strives to deliver creative and engaging workshops that address the evolving needs of small businesses.
